Sirajganj: Two people, including a student, were killed and three others injured in a road accident in Tamai Bus Stand area on Saidabad-Belkuchi in Belkuchi upazila on Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the accident took place when a speedy bus knocked down a CNG-run auto rickshaw around 3:45 pm, leaving three-wheeler passenger Rabbi, about 35 years old, son of late Alamgir Hossain, a resident of Delua village in Belkuchi upazila, dead on the spot and injured his four co-passengers.

Later, Rima Khatun, about 22 years old, daughter of Rohich Uddin, a resident of Pabna district and a 1st year student of Khawaja Yunus Ali Nursing Institute, succumbed to her injuries while being moved to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital along with three others injured, said officer-in-charge of Belkuchi Police Station Sazzad Hossain.

Police seized the bus and arrested its driver Momin Mandal, the OC added.
