Comilla: Three people were killed as a train hit a microbus in Jailkhanabari area under Bijoypur union of Comilla Sadar Dakkhin (South) upazila on Tuesday.

One of the deceased was Abu Taher, 55, of Sahapur of Comilla Sadar while the identities of the two others could not be known yet.

Comilla South Police Station Officer-in-charge Nazrul Islam said the accident took place at about 12:00pm when the Sylhet-bound Paharika Express train hit a microbus of Sentry Security Services while it was crossing an unauthorised rail gate, leaving two passengers of the microbus dead on the spot and one injured.

The injured died on way to Comilla Medical College and Hospital.

The bodies were taken to local police camp, said Swapan Kandari Barua, sub-inspector of Laksham Railway Police.
