Dhaka: Authorities of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) on Friday suspended plying of all types of water vehicles including ferry, launch, speed boat on Shimulia-Kanthalbari route in Munshiganj due to bad weather.

Khandaker Shah Newaj Khaled, assistant managing director of BIWTC, said that with the increase of current in the Padma and stormy wind under the influence of depression in the Bay, they suspended the plying of all ferries and launches since noon.

Besides, ferry services on Paturia-Daulatdia river route was hampered due to strong current in the Padma since early Friday, said Mohiuddin Rasel, manager of Aricha sector.
