Sunamganj: A local Juba League leader was killed as a trawler capsized in Khorocher haor in Bishwambarpur upazila on Saturday night.

The deceased is Arun Barman from Bahadurpur village and a Juba League president of Ward No 6 in Fatehpur union.

Mollah Monir, officer-in-charge of Bishwambarpur Police Station, said a trawler with 15 passengers capsized in the haor due to gusty wind.

Although other passengers managed to swim ashore but Arun Barman drowned.

He was then rescued and sent to Bishwambarpur Upazila Health Complex where doctors pronounced him dead.
