Comilla: A minor student was killed and his father sustained critical injuries in a road accident in Jhagorjhuli area on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Sadar upazila of Comilla on Tuesday morning.

The deceased is Nazmul Hasan Niyan, around 7 years old, a class I student of Bangladesh Rural Development Academy Model School and son of Nasir Uddin of the Hodgora village of Sadar Dakkhin upazila.

Abdus Salam, sub-inspector of Mainamati Police Outpost, said the accident took place in the area when a Dhaka-bound Trisha Paribahan bus from Laksam hit them while they were standing along the highway for crossing it, leaving Nazmul dead on the spot and Nasir Uddin critically injured.

Nasir Uddin was admitted to Comilla Medical College and Hospital in critical condition, the SI added.
