Three people including a university student drowned in Sunamganj and Chittagong districts.

In Sunamganj: Two minor cousins drowned in a river at Kaowajuri village in Derai upazila on Friday evening.

The deceased are Eamin Hossain, about 4 years old, son of Ali Hossain of Kaowajuri village of the upazila and Emain’s cousin Tayef Miah, about 5 years old, son of Shahin Miah of the same village.

Nur-e-Alam, a UP member of the village, said Eamin and Tayef drowned in a river adjacent to their home.

Lcals rescued them and sent to Upazila Health Complex around 5:00 pm where doctors declared them dead.

In Chittagong: A student of Premier University drowned in a waterfall in Nayanduwaria area in Mirsharai upazila on Friday.

The deceased is Shahadat Hossain Mamun, about 21 years old, a second semester student of the university and son of Motiar Rahman of Shorshadi village of Feni district.

Kamal Uddin, sub-inspector of Mirsahrai Police Station said Mamun drowned in Napitta Chhara, a mountain waterfall, in the area while swimming. He went there with six of his friends.

Iftekhar Alam, an officer of Agrabad fire service, said on information a diver team from the station rushed to the spot and recovered the body around 5:00 pm.
