Rajshahi: An ethnic girl died after falling into a septic tank in Tanore upazila of the district.

The deceased is Mayati Hembrom, about 6 years old, daughter of Bodurai Hembrom, a resident of Shalbari Sollapara area in Tanore upazila.

Rezaul Islam, officer-in-charge of Tanore Police Station, said some sand had been kept on the septic tank on account of some construction work adjacent to the school. The children fell into the tank displacing the cover while they were playing on the sand.

Later, hearing their screams and cries for help, local people recovered them but it was too late for Mayati, who died on the spot, OC said.

An unnatural death case was filed in this connection.
