Khulna: An official of Youth Development Department was killed and his wife injured in a road accident in Phultala upazila on Wednesday morning.

Family sources said Mohammad Mostafa, an assistant officer of Chougachha Upazila Youth Development Department, along with her wife Nazma Begum, was traveling to Khulna city from Abhaynagar upazila riding a motorcycle.

When the couple reached Phultala Upazila Bus Stand area, a Kushtia-bound bus of ‘Madhumati Paribahan’ knocked down their motorbike around 10:00 am, leaving them injured severely.

Later, the injured couple was taken to Khulna Medical College Hospital where Mostafa succumbed to his injuries around 12:30 pm.
