Derailment snaps Mymensing-Jamalpur rail link

Jamalpur: The rail communication between Mymensingh and Jamalpur was halted on Saturday morning following the derailment of an engine and two bogies of an oil laden train at Bidyaganj Railway Station in the district.
Jamalpur Railway Station master Shamsul Alam said the wheels of an engine and two compartments of a Jamalpur bound train from Mymensingh veered off the track at around 8:00 am, halting rail communication on the route.
The derailment halted journey of at least 6 trains including three inter-city trains.
No causalities were reported.
‘A salvage train from Mymensing is carrying out rescue operation, which may take time’, he said.
