Four killed as car plunges into ditch

Four young men were killed as a private car plunged into a roadside ditch in Ray Sontoshpur area of Chhatok upazila of Sunamganj on Friday evening.

The deceased were identified as Tofail Ahmed, 27, son of Gias Uddin, a resident of Mahtabpur under Bishwanath upazila and Raju Ahmed, 35, son of Sohrab Ali, Sayef, 27, son of Fazlul Haque, residents of Tukerbazar under Jalalabad Police Station and Shahjahan, 32, a resident of Goalabazar under Osmaninagar Police Station in Sylhet district, reports the UNB.

The accident took place around 5:30pm as the private car carrying the four was heading to Sylhet from Chhatok skidded off the road and fell into the ditch in the Kalaruka union, leaving them dead on the spot and the driver critically injured, said Atikur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Chhatok Police Station.

The injured driver was sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital.
