4 killed as bus overturns in Bogra

Bogra: At least four people were killed and around 12 people were injured as a bus overturned on the Dhaka-Rangpur Highway in Bogra in the early hours of Wednesday.

The accident took place at Mokamtala of Shibganj upazila at about 6:30am.

Bogra Fire Service Station Senior Official Mohammad Bazlur Rashid said a Kurigram-bound Saddam Paribahan bus from Dhaka reached Biharpur area of Mokamtala at about 6:30am. The bus hit with a tree and overturned as it tried to give space to a pedestrian. However, the pedestrian including two passengers died on the spot.

Being informed, police and fire fighters went to the spot and started rescue operation.

Around 13 people were injured during the accident and took to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogra and Gobindaganj Health Complex. One of the injured died on the way to Gobindaganj Health Complex.

Identities of the deceased could not be known immediately. The pedestrian who was killed during the accident is Abdul Jabbar, in his fifties, a resident of the village of Harirampur.
