Feni: At least seven people were killed and 24 others injured in a road accident in Amirgaon area under Dagonbhuiyan upazila in Feni on Saturday evening.

The accident took place in Amirgoan area on the Feni-Noakhali Highway when a bus of Shahi Paribahan bound for Chittagong plunged into a roadside ditch after hitting a motorcycle there, Dagonbhuiyan Upazila Nirbahi Office (UNO) M Saiful Islam told the news agency.

Among the victims, one person was identified as bus driver M Hanif, he said adding that the identities of others could not be known immediately.

Four bodies have been kept at Dagonbhuiyan Upazila Health Complex while three bodies were sent to Feni Sadar Hospital.

Being informed, police rushed to the spot and rescued the injured people with the help of local people and rushed them to different health clinics and Feni sadar hospital, the UNO said.
