Two including AL leader killed in road accidents

Two people including a local leader of Awami League (AL) were killed in separate road accidents in Thakurgaon and Rajshahi.
In Thakurgaon: A local leader of Awami League (AL) was killed and another man injured in a road accident at Borogaon-Chachuli area on Panchagarah-Thakurgaon highway in Sadar upazila on Friday night.
The deceased is Bikash Chandra, about 35 years old, general secretary of ward No 7 unit AL of Awliapur union of the upazila.
Roshmati Rani Ray, assistant sub-inspector of Sadar Police Station said the accident took place around 8pm when a night-coach hit their vehicle, a motorcycle, while they were making their way home, leaving Bikash dead on spot and Satish Chandra injured.
Satish was admitted to Thakurgaon Adhunik Sadar Hospital, the ASI added.
In Rajshahi: A driver of a Nosimon, a kind of motorised rickshaw, was killed in a road accident at Polpukur on Dhaka-Rajshahi Highway in Putia upazila on Friday.
The deceased is Masud Rana, about 40 years old, son of Sajahan Sarkar of Keshabpur village in Bagha upazila of the district.
Sub-Inspector Habibur Rahman, in-charge of Poba Highway Police outpost, said the accident took place when the Nosimon plunged into a nearby ditch as the driver lost control over the wheel, leaving Masud critically injured.
On information a team of the Fire Service and Civil Defence from Putia rushed to the spot and rescued Masud and sent him to Putia Upazila Health Complex where doctor declared him dead.
