Six killed in separate road crashes

Six people were killed in separate road accidents in five districts.
In Chapainawabganj: A man and his wife were killed in a road accident at Ranihati on Chapainawabganj-Sonamasjid highway in Shibganj upazila on Saturday noon.
The deceased were identified as Aslam Uddin alias Enamul, 65, and his wife Miniara Begum, 55-residents of Islampur area of the district town.
Officer-in-charge of Shibganj Police Station Habibul Islam Habib said when the couple was going to Rashiknagr village of the upazila in a motorbike a truck hit their motorbike around 12:15, leaving the duo dead on the spot.
On information, police recovered the bodies and seized the truck.
In Dhaka: A woman was killed in a road accident near Malibagh bazar in the capital on Saturday morning.
The deceased is Runa Aktar, about 32 years old, wife of Bachchu Mia of Kalipur in Madaripur sadar upazila.
Sub-inspector of Rampura Police Station Dulal said a bus of “Ramjan Paribahan” hit the woman while she was crossing the road near the bazar around 9 am.
The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.
Police seized the bus but its driver and his assistant managed to flee.
In Pabna: An official of Grameen Bank was killed as a bus hit his motorcycle on Pabna-Dhaka highway in Dakkhhin Raghabpur area of Sadar upazila on Saturday morning.
The deceased is Belal Hossain, about 50 years old, son of Dilbar Hossian of Boalia village in Ullapara upazila and manager of Grameen Bank Hemayetpur branch in Sadar upazila.
The speeding bus bus hit the motorcycle around 8 am, leaving the motorcyclist critically injured, said Golam Mostafa, sub-inspector of Sadar Police station.
Injured Belal was rushed to Pabna General Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
In Thakurgaon: A local leader of Awami League (AL) was killed and another man injured in a road accident at Borogaon-Chachuli area on Panchagarah-Thakurgaon highway in Sadar upazila on Friday night.
The deceased is Bikash Chandra, about 35 years old, general secretary of ward No 7 unit AL of Awliapur union of the upazila.
Roshmati Rani Ray, assistant sub-inspector of Sadar Police Station said the accident took place around 8pm when a night-coach hit their vehicle, a motorcycle, while they were making their way home, leaving Bikash dead on spot and Satish Chandra injured.
Satish was admitted to Thakurgaon Adhunik Sadar Hospital, the ASI added.
In Rajshahi: A driver of a Nosimon, a kind of motorised rickshaw, was killed in a road accident at Polpukur on Dhaka-Rajshahi Highway in Putia upazila on Friday.
The deceased is Masud Rana, about 40 years old, son of Sajahan Sarkar of Keshabpur village in Bagha upazila of the district.
Sub-Inspector Habibur Rahman, in-charge of Poba Highway Police outpost, said the accident took place when the Nosimon plunged into a nearby ditch as the driver lost control over the wheel, leaving Masud critically injured.
On information a team of the Fire Service and Civil Defence from Putia rushed to the spot and rescued Masud and sent him to Putia Upazila Health Complex where doctor declared him dead.
