Noakhali: A worker was killed and seven others injured as a mixer machine of a pharmaceutical company exploded in BSCIC (Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation) industrial area of Begumganj upazila early Monday.

The deceased was identified as Nurul Amin Rony, son of Khalilur Rahman, resident of Eklaspur union of Noakhali.

A K M Nurul Amin Chowdury, general manager of Globe Drugs Limited said that the explosion took place while the workers were heating liquid methyl chemical, leaving eight workers including Rony injured.

Later, the injured Rony died on the way to the hospital.

The other injured were admitted at 250-bed Noakhali General Hospital.
