Jessore: A college student died on Monday after falling from the roof of a running bus on Pulerhat- Rajganj road at Mahidia Keshob intersection in Manirampur upazila.

The deceased was identified as Shimul Hossain, about 20 years old, son of Abu Hasan of Hanuar Bagerali village of the upazila, who was a first year student of Abdur Razzak Municipal College in Jessore Sadar.

Witnesses said Shimul fell down from the bus at around 3.30 pm after a tree branch hit him and sustained severe injury.

The injured was taken to Jessore Sadar Hospital where he was provided with first aid.

Later, doctors referred him to Dhaka considering the severity of the injury.

Shimul died on his way to Dhaka.

Officer-in- Charge of Rajganj Police Station Akram Hossain said, police were not informed regarding the death incidence immediately.
