Chittagong: A furniture showroom and a private car were gutted as a fire broke out at the showroom in AK Khan Gate area in Chittagong on Sunday night.

Kamal Uddin Bhuiyan, assistsant director (acting) of Chittagong Division Fire Service, said that the fire broke out in the showroom named Medalian Furniture around 10:30pm.

On information, 11 vehicles of five firefighting units from different fire stations rushed to the spot and doused the flame after one hour of frantic efforts.

The fire gutted the furniture showroom and a parked private car there.

The affected shop owner said that entire showroom, where imported furnitute were showcased, burnt to ashes.

The fire halted vehicular movement from AK Khan Gate to Ispahani Rail Gate for one hour due to huge gathering.
