Sylhet: Two workers were killed and three others injured in a mudslide while they were extracting stones from a quarry in Bholaganj area of Companiganj upazila in Sylhet on Sunday night.

The deceased are Ruhul Amin, in his twenties, and Motibur, in his thirties, residents of Muradpur area of the Sunamganj district.

Quoting local people, Shafiqur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Companiganj Police Station, said the mud of the stone quarry collapsed on the worker while they were extracting stones by running generator around 9:30pm.

On information, police recovered the bodies around 11:30pm.

The injured workers were admitted to Companiganj Health Complex.

Police, meanwhile, arrested labour leader Abdur Rouf.
