Chandpur: At least 10 shops were gutted as a fire broke out at Bakila Madhya Bazar area in Hajiganj upazila of Chandpur early Tuesday.

Manjurul Islam, official of Hajiganj Fire Station, said that the fire broke out around 12:30am.

On information, two firefighting teams from Hajiganj and Sadar fire stations rushed to the spot around 1:30am and doused the fire around 3am.

Two firefighters – Shariful Islam, and Al-Amin, sustained burn injuries while trying to bring the fire under control.

The injured Shariful was admitted to Comilla Medical College Hospital.

The reason behind the fire could not be known immediately.
