Dinajpur: Four day labourers were killed as a truck carrying them plunged into a roadside ditch in front of the main gate of Barapukuria Coal Mine in Parbatipur upazila of Dinajpur early on Wednesday, reports local media.

The deceased are Rezaul Islam, Ismael Hossain, Zafrul,and Dilip, all residents of Harirampur village in Nababganj upazila of the district.

The Parbatipur police said the accident took place when a wood-laden Dhaka-bound truck fell into a roadside ditch in the area after its driver lost control over the steering at about 12:30am, leaving the four labourers on it dead on the spot and three others injured.

The injured were admitted to Phulbari Upazila Health Complex.
