A control room has been opened at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport here to provide necessary information and counselling to the families of the victims of the US-Bangla Airlines plane crash.

Additional Secretary to the Disaster Management and Relief Ministry Md Mohsin on Tuesday said top officials of the ministry will be performing duty at the control room to provide all kinds of assistance to the victims’ families, reports the UNB.

The control room will remain in operation until all the injured and the bodies of Bangladeshi nationals killed in the plane crash are brought home, he said, adding that the control room will take steps to reach the bodies to their respective village homes if necessary.

Quoting Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, Mohsin said the families of the victims will get compensation as all of them had been covered by insurance according to the US-Bangla Airlines.

At least 51 people, including 26 Bangladeshis, died as the US-Bangla Airlines aircraft from Dhaka to Kathmandu crashed at Tribhuvan International Airport in the capital of Himalayan country Nepal on Monday.

There were 36 Bangladeshi nationals, including the pilot, co-pilot and two crewmembers, 33 Nepalese citizens and one Maldivian and Chinese national each in the flight.
