Global leaders, missions in Dhaka condole deaths in plane crash

Condolences have poured in for the victims and families of the US-Bangla plane crash in the land of Everest that killed dozens of passengers and injured many.

US Embassy in Dhaka on Tuesday extended its deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims of the US-Bangla Airlines crash in Kathmandu. ‘To those passengers injured, we send our prayers for a full recovery,’ reads a message of the mission, reports the UNB.

Heads of Mission of the European Union resident in Bangladesh expressed their heartfelt condolences to all victims of the plane crash of the US-Bangla flight in Kathmandu.

They also conveyed condolences to their families, their governments and their peoples, said a statement.

The European Union is mourning the tragic incident and wished the injured victims a prompt recovery, it said.

Heads of Mission of the European Union are Ambassador, Delegation of the European Union Rensje Teerink, Spanish Ambassador Alvaro de Salas Gimenez de Azcarate, Netherlands Ambassador Leoni Cuelenaere, Italian Ambassador Mario Palma, Swedish Ambassador Charlotta Schlyter, Denmark Ambassador Mikael Hemniti Winther, British High Commissioner Alison Blake, German Ambassador Dr Thomas Heinrich Prinz and French Ambassador Marie-Annick Bourdin.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed his condolences to President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina over the deadly plane crash at Kathmandu airport.

The President of Russia passed on words of sympathy and support to the victims’ families and wished a speedy recovery to all those injured, said a message received from Moscow.

Indian Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj has spoken to Bangladesh Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali and expressed deepest condolences and sympathies to Bangladesh for the loss of lives in the crash of US-Bangla Airlines at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.

She expressed deepest condolences and sympathies to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and the people of Bangladesh for the loss of lives.

The Indian minister also offered any assistance required in Kathmandu, and shared thoughts and prayers for those injured in the crash and with people of Bangladesh, according to Indian High Commission in Dhaka.

Canadian High Commissioner in Dhaka said everyone at the Canadian High Commission was saddened by the crash of flight BS 211 from Dhaka to Kathmandu.

‘We extend our deepest sympathy and condolences to the victims and their families, as well as our wishes for a full recovery to passengers who were injured,’ the High Commission said in a message on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday talked to Nepalese Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli over telephone from Singapore at 7:50pm (local time).

While talking to Nepalese counterpart, Sheikh Hasina expressed deep shock at the plane crash, according to a media release issued by the PM’s Press Wing.

Sharma Oli informed Hasina that he visited the spot after the crash and gave necessary directives.

At least 51 people died as an aircraft of US-Bangla Airlines from Dhaka to Kathmandu crashed at Tribhuvan International Airport in the capital of the Himalayan country on Monday, said officials.
