Savar: Two young men died and two others fell sick reportedly after eating homemade ‘halva’ at a house next to the Hashem Plaza in Ashulia early Thursday.

The deceased are Zillu and Motaleb, workers of a nearby garment.

Dr Amjadul Haque,SavarUpazila Health Officer, said Zillu, Motaleb, Shamim and Farid cooked halva on Wednesday midnight and fell sick after eating it.

Relatives rushed them to Enam Medical College Hospital where Zillu and Motaleb died and Shamim and Farid were kept at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.

Physicians at the hospital said they might have died after eating halva with toxic ingredients.

The dead and sick people hail from Tangail and Patuakhli, said hospital sources.
