Bagerhat: A woman and her son were killed as a jeep ran over them at Dona in Morelganj upazila of Bagerhat on Sunday.

The deceased are Shilpi Akter, in his thirties, wife of Mosharraf Hossain Hawladar of Dona Kalikabari village and her son Omar Hawladar, 7, a class II student of a local primary school.

Rashedul Alam, officer-in-charge of Morelganj Police Station, said a Sarankhola-bound jeep hit Shilpi and Omar while they were crossing a road on way home from school, leaving them dead on the spot.

The vehicle also hit a van, leaving its driver injured. Police seized the vehicle.
