Dhaka: A two-day international conference titled ‘Sustainable Development & National Long-term Plan: Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100’ began at University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) Auditorium in Dhaka on Thursday.

Centre for Sustainable Development (CSD) at the ULAB organised the conference, said a press release.

The conference focuses on 12 themes, including gender and SDGs, sustainable agriculture and food security, sustainable livelihoods, integrated water resource management and migration.

A Mustaque R Chowdhury, Vice-Chair of BRAC, and a Professor of Population and Family Health at the Mailman School of Public Health, Columbia University, delivered the inaugural speech at the programme.

Presided over by Rezaur Rahman, Professor of IWFM, BUET, the programme was attended, among others, by Prof Shamsul Alam, member, GED, Planning Commission, Government of Bangladesh, Margreet Zwarteveen, professor of Water Governance at UNESCO-IHE, Netherlands, Rajib Shaw, prof at the Graduate School of Global Environmental Studies, Kyoto University, Japan; Mahbuba Nasreen, Director and Professor at the Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies, University of Dhaka.

A total of 200 participants and observers are participating in the conference.
