Narayanganj: Four furniture shops and two sawmills were gutted by a fire that broke out at a furniture market in Donchenmar area of Narayanganj on Thursday, reports UNB.

Fire service officials said the fire broke out at the furniture shop on Salimullah Road and soon engulfed the adjoining three other shops and two nearby sawmills at about 5:45am.

Fire fighters went to the spot and extinguished the blaze after one hour.

The origin of the fire could not be known immediately.

The affected shop owners claimed that the loss caused by the fire would be around Tk50 lakh.
