Mymensingh: A student of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) was killed and three others sustained burn injuries in a blast at a building at Masterbari in Bhaluka of Mymensingh in the early hours of Sunday.

The deceased is Touhid, a final year student of KUET and an intern of Mymensingh Textile Mill, a resident of Bogra.

Mamun, officer-in-charge of Bhaluka Model Police Station, said an explosion inside the six-storey building rocked the Masterbari area around 12:30am.

On information, police rushed in and found a room of the second floor of the building badly damaged.

A body was recovered from the room and three injured—Shahin, hailing from Sirajganj, Hafiz, from Naogaon and Dipto Sarker, of Magura—were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Of them, Hafiz and Dipto were initially sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital from where they were referred to DMCH.

The conditions of Hafiz and Dipto are critical and they were sent to Dhaka for better treatment, said duty-doctor Sunando Sen.
