Dhaka: A student of Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), who was undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital with burn injuries in a blast at a building at Masterbari in Bhaluka since March 25, died in Dhaka early Thursday, raising the death toll into two.

Shahim, a final year student of KUET and an intern of Mymensingh Textile Mill, hailing from Sirajganj, succumbed to his injuries at burn unit of the hospital around 12:30am, said sub-inspector Bachchu Miah of the DMCH police camp.

Earlier on March 25, Md Towhidul Islam, in his twenties, a final year KUET student who was doing internship at Mymensingh Textile Mills from Bogra, was killed and three others received burn injuries in the explosion inside the six-storey building.

The injured—Shahin, hailing from Sirajganj, Hafiz from Naogaon and Dipta Sarker of Magura—were sent to DMCH.

Later, a case was filed against the building owner Abdur Razzak.
