Kishoreganj: At least four people were killed following a head on collision between a truck and an auto-rickshaw on ​​Bhairab-Kishoreganj road in Kaliprasad area of Kishoreganj on Tuesday.

The deceased are auto-rickshaw driver Sanaullah, Monwar Hossain, in his thirties, Masud Mia, in his forties, and Sajib Mia, in his forties. All of the victims are from Paizanpur and Kailag villages in Bajitpur upazila.

The accident took place when a Kishoreganj-bound truck collided with the auto-rickshaw at Gazirtek area around 11:00am leaving the auto-rickshaw driver dead on the spot and injuring five others, police said quoting witnesses.

The injured were rushed to the upazila health complex from where three severely injured were referred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for better treatment.

On way to DMCH, the trio died, said AKM Kaiser, officer-in-charge of Bhairab Highway Police Station.

The bodies would be handed over to their relatives after autopsies, he added.
