Lightning kills 4 in Habiganj, Sunamganj

Four people were killed in separate incidents of lightning strike in Habiganj and Sunamganj districts on Friday.  

In Habiganj, a farmer, Abul Kalam, 35, was hit by lightning at Uttar Bhabanipur in Bahubal upazila around 12:30pm while he was working at his paddy field near his house, killing him on the spot, reports the UNB.

In another incident at Morarabda village in Baniachang upazila, farmer Ranadhir Chandra Das, 45, died after being struck by a thunderbolt around 1:30pm while he was returning home with his paddy plants from a nearby field.

Hena Begum, 35, wife of Sohel Miah of Tawsia village in Chunarugaht upazila, was killed as a thunderbolt bore down on her around 2:30pm while threshing paddy at her courtyard.

In Sunamganj, Zafar Ali, 45, met the tragic end of his life as a thunderbolt struck him at Gorkati village in Tahirpur upazila while working in a paddy field by the bank of the Jadukata River amid rain around 10:30 am, said Nanda Kumar Dhar, officer-in-charge of Tahirpur Police Station.
