Three killed in Shariatpur road crash

Three workers were killed and six others injured as a truck plunged into a roadside ditch in Khelsi area of Sadar upazila on Saturday night.
The deceased were identified as Md Rahmat Hossain, 40, Naim Hossain, 25, and Idris, 60, hailing from Chetua area in Ashasuni upazila in Satkhira district.
The injured workers said that they had come to Shariatpur from Satkhira on April 24 for cultivating paddy.
Niaz Mohammad, deputy assistant director of Shariatpur Fire Service and Civil Defence, said the accident took place around 10:30 am when the paddy-laden truck carrying 12 workers plunged into the roadside ditch after its driver lost control over the wheels, leaving the trio dead on the spot and six others injured.
The injured were admitted at Shariatpur Sadar Hospital.
