Jashore: Two siblings drowned in a pond in Sharsha upazila on Friday morning.

The deceased were identified as Rezwan, 7, son of Kamarul Islam of Sikarpur village of Lakshanpur union in the upazila and his sister Maria, 6.

Sub-inspector Sheikh Lutfar Rahman of Gorpara police camp said the duo went to a local pond for taking bath in the morning and accidentally drowned.

Later, locals spotted the bodies floating on the water and recovered them.

After taking those to the Upazila Health Complex, the on-duty doctors declared them dead.
