Fire breaks out at Shantinagar Twin Tower
Dhaka: A fire broke out at Concord Twin Tower in capital’s Shantinagar area in the early hours of Wednesday.
Khilgaon Fire Station duty official Mohammad Ali Ahad said the fire originated on the 10th floor of the 22-storey building at about 1:00am.
Smoke engulfed the entire building and some residents were trapped inside the building, said Rusho Ahmed, a resident of the building, at about 1:30am.
The electric connections and elevators were switched off immediately after the fire originate.
The residents living above 10th floor were stuck inside their flats.
Fire service control room officer Bhajan Kumar Saker at about 1:45am said the fire primarily came under control, but the smoke still surrounded the area.
Fire fighters were also working to eradicate the smoke.
The fire fighters also rescued six people including a child from the 10th floor of the Twin Tower building. The building was successfully evacuated.
No casualty has been recorded yet. However, some residents were injured as they rushed out from the building.
