Chandpur: Two people were killed and five others injured in a head-on collision between two CNG-run auto-rickshaws on Chandpur-Cumilla regional highway in Badia village of Shahrasti upazila on Saturday.

The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.

The accident took place when an auto-rickshaw collided head-on with another around 7 pm, leaving a woman dead on the spot and six others injured, said Md Shah Alam, officer-in-charge of Shahrasti Model Police Station.

The injured were taken to Shahrasti Health Complex where the duty doctor declared a man dead.

The deceased woman had Tk 36,000 cash in her bag, the OC added.

Being information police rushed there and recovered the body from the spot.
