Rangamati: A police constable was killed as a bullet fired ‘mistakenly’ from the rifle of his colleague at Sukhi Nilganj Police Lines in Rangamati on Saturday, reported UNB.

Police super Sayed Tariqul Hasan said the incident took place when constable Sourav Barua was talking to his colleague Purna Barua in their room on his return from duty at about 11:45am, a bullet from Sourav’s rifle hit Purna, leaving him critically wounded.

Sourav also fell unconscious at the ‘unexpected’ incident.

They were taken to General Hospital where doctors declared Purna dead.

Purna was resident of East Gozra Hoara para in Raujan upazila of Chittagong.

Meanwhile, Sourav was moved to Chittagong from Rangamati for better treatment.
