Khaleda Zia undergoes medical tests at BSMMU
Dhaka: BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Thursday underwent some medical tests at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU).
Khaleda, who has been kept in a cabin on the sixth floor of the hospital, was taken to the ground floor for the tests.
As part of regular health check-up, doctors conducted chest, lung tests and a City Scan, said Brig General Abdullah Al Harun, director (hospital) of BSMMU.
Later, she was brought back to her cabin around 2:15 pm, reports the UNB.
On October 6, Khaleda Zia was admitted to the BSMMU after prison authorities shifted her there from old Dhaka Central jail for better treatment in response to a court order.
On October 4, the High Court directed the government to immediately admit Khaleda Zia to the BSMMU and form a 5-member medical board afresh for her treatment.
Khaleda Zia was in the erstwhile Dhaka Central Jail at Nazimuddin Road since she was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case on February 8.
On September 16, a medical board formed by the government for jailed Khaleda, suggested admitting her to a hospital like BSMMU though they have found ‘no symptom of any serious disease’ in her.
