34.5kg fish netted in Saint Martin’s channel sold for Tk 8 lakh
Cox’s Bazar: Fishermen caught a giant Jew fish (locally known as Poa) weighing 34.5 kg from the Saint Martin’s channel in Teknaf upazila on Tuesday.
Abdul Goni, a local fisherman along with two others, went to the Bay to catch fish on Tuesday and netted the huge Jew fish from Fuler Kup area, one and half kilometers away from the Saint Martin’s island, said Teknaf upazila Fisheries Officer Delwar Hossain, reports the UNB.
Ishak, a businessman of Maheshkhali, bought the fish for Tk 8 lakh.
The businessman said the fish will be exported to Hong Kong as the lung of the fish has huge demand there and also the price is high.
Meanwhile, locals from different parts of the upazila thronged at the island to have a look of the rare-side fish.
