Habiganj: A freedom fighter and a female madrasah teacher were killed and three people injured in a road accident at Ratna on Habiganj-Baniachang road in Habiganj’s Baniachang on Thursday noon.

The deceased were identified as freedom fighter Lutfur Rahman, 55, and Aktarun Nesa, 45, a teacher of BSD Women’s Madrasah in the upazila, reported UNB.

Baniachang police officer-in-charge Amalendu Roy said the accident took place as a Baniachang-bound bus crashed into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction in the area around 1:30pm, leaving the duo dead on the spot and three other auto-rickshaw passengers injured.

Locals rescued the injured and sent them to Sadar Hospital.

Later, police recovered the bodies and sent those to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
