Remain aware of fake army officers: ISPR
Dhaka: The Inter Services Public Relation (ISPR) Directorate on Wednesday urged all to remain aware about frauds who identifying themselves as army officers are demanding money from election candidates offering to provide them with various facilities.
Members of Bangladesh Army remained deployed in different parts of the country since December 24 for the upcoming national election, reports the UNB.
To cash in on the reputation and acceptability of the army, some dishonest and vested quarters are out to make their own fortune impersonating army officers, said an ISPR release.
Several dishonest persons, posing as army officials of lieutenant or above rank, are demanding money from aspirants over phone in exchange for giving them various facilities, it said.
Law enforcers have already arrested some of the fake army officers, the release said, adding that they might resort to immoral activities in the future, too.
Under the circumstances, the ISPR Directorate urged all concerned to remain alert and inform law enforcers immediately if they notice such incident.
