Two Chawkbazar fire victims die, death toll now 69
Dhaka: Two victims of the Chawkbazar fire died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on early Tuesday and Monday night, taking the death toll from the incident to 69.
Sohag, 22, succumbed to his injuries at the burn unit of the hospital around 1:45am, said DMCH police camp in-charge Inspector Bachchu Mia.
Earlier, Anwar Hossain, 55, a rickshaw-puller and son of Ali Hossain of Rajbari, succumbed to his burn injuries at the hospital around 10:00pm Monday.
A total 67 people were killed and around 41 others injured in the devastating fire that broke out at a chemical warehouse and raged through four other adjacent buildings in the city’s Chawkbazar area on February 20.
Firefighters recovered the 67 bodies from the spot after the fire was doused around 6am on February 21.
