Dinajpur: A female university student was killed and her friend injured in a road accident at Bartali in Dinajpur town on Friday, reported UNB.

The deceased, Rahima Khatun Rima, 23, is a second semester student of food and process engineering department at Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science & Technology University (HSTU).

She is a resident of Chilmari upazila of Kurigram district.

Ferdous Alam, HSTU Vice-chancellor’s personal secretary, said the accident took place around 6:30pm when a goods-laden truck skidded off the road and overturned on an auto-rickshaw carrying Rima and her friend on their way to the university campus from the town.

Rima died on the spot and her friend Sajib suffered injuries in the accident.

The body was sent to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy. Sajib was also taken to the hospital, said Ferdous Alam.
