Bagerhat: Four schoolgirls fell sick after taking pesticide at Raigram village in Chitalmari upazila on Friday night, reports UNB.

Four female students of Nobopollobi Ideal High School in the upazila took pesticide together at a garden at Raigram village in the evening, said Rezaul Karim, officer-in-charge of Chitalmari Police Station, quoting locals.

Later they were rushed to Chitalmari upazila health complex in the night.

One of the girls is a class-8 student while three others are of class-7.

The reason behind the incident could not be known immediately.

Contacted, Shibpada Mazumdar, headmaster of Nabopollobi Ideal High School, said earlier the same four girls and a few others fell sick after taking soft drinks provided by some of their male fellow students.

As the matter came to the authorities’ notice, they on Thursday asked their parents to meet the teachers during school hours on Saturday.

Later, the local administration formed a three-member probe committee, headed by Upazila Education Officer (Secondary) Mofizur Rahman, to investigate the matter and asked the committee to submit its report within three days.
