College student’s death in Dhaka road accident sparks protest
Dhaka: College students blocked the Mostafa Majir intersection of Rampura-Demra Road after a first-year student was killed in a road accident on Friday noon.
The victim, 19-year-old Ibne Tasnim Iram, was a student at Gulam Mostafa College. He lived with his parents at Amulia Purbapara in Demra, reports the UNB.
A passenger bus of ‘Ramzan Paribahan’ hit his cycle, killing him on the spot, said Sub-Inspector Mozammel Hossain of Demra Police Station.
Students of Gulam Mostafa College and locals came out on the streets as news of Iram’s death spread. They put up barricades on the road, halting vehicular movement.
They suspended their protests around 4:00pm, SI Muzammel said.
