Madaripur: Two traders were shot by a group of robbers during a robbery at five shops in Miar hat area of Kalkini upazila in Madaripur early on Monday.

Robbers looted gold jewelleries from three shops of the area.

The Kalkini police officer-in-charge Kripa Sindu Bala said a gang of around 6 robbers stormed into five shops, including three jewelry shops – Joy Jewelers, Moushumi Jewelers and Anchal Jewelers—in area at about 2:00am.

When local people tried to resist the robbers, they opened fire at them, which left Swapan Kazi, and Sohel injured, added the OC.

The shop owners alleged that the robbers looted 30-35 tolas of gold jewelleries from the three shops.
