Road crashes kill 3 in Nilphamari

Nilphamari: Three people, including a woman, were killed in two road accidents in Dimla and Saidpur upazilas on Monday.

The deceased were identified as Ashraful, 25, a tractor driver, and Sabed Ali, 20, of Shatnai area in Dimla upazila, and Amena Begum, 36, a resident of Dholagasha Madhyapara area in Saidpur upazila.

Officer-in-charge of Dimla Police Station Abdul Hannan said a Tulirhat-bound stone-laden tractor from Shatnai colony fell into the Shatnai River at Madhya Shatnai around 7pm after its driver lost control over the steering, leaving driver Ashraful and his helper Shabed Ali dead on the spot.

On information, police recovered the bodies and sent those to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

In another accident, Amena Begum died on the spot when a speedy truck hit a van carrying her from behind on Rangpur-Saidpur highway at Dholagash in Saidpur upazila around 11am, said OC of Saidpur Police Station Solaiman Ali.

The body was sent to Sadar Hospital morgue.
