Chandpur: At least five people, including a woman and her son, were killed after a bus hit an autorickshaw in Shahrasti upazila on Sunday morning.

The deceased were identified as Jannatul Ferdous, 28, her son Ruman, 8, Ranjit Chandra, 52, Fakhrul Islam, 75, and Abul Kalam, 62.

All of them were passengers of the autorickshaw, reports the UNB.

They were killed on the spot when a bus rammed into the autorickshaw on Chandpur-Cumilla regional road in Kakoirtola around 9am, said Shah Alam, officer-in-charge of Shahrasti Police Station.

Two more autorickshaw passengers were also injured. They have been hospitalised.
