Chittagong: Three of a family, a woman and her two sons, were killed as their CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided with a pickup van in Jorarganj thana area in Chittagong on early on Sunday.

The deceased are Shaheda Akhter, and her two sons, Saimon and Saidul.

Local people and police said four members of the family were travelling to their village in Chittagong from Dhaka. They hired a CNG-run auto-rickshaw from the bus stand for the village of Imampur.

The auto-rickshaw collided head-on with a pickup van at about 6:30am and left three members of the family dead and another injured, said the Jorarganj police.

The Jorarganj police officer-in-charge Jahedul Islam said Shaheda’s husband Didarul Alam was injured during the accident.

Local people rescued Didarul and took him to a local hospital, said the OC.
