Barguna: A woman was killed and seven people were injured in a gas cylinder blast during an Urs in Amtali upazila on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Nurunnahar.

Witnesses said the gas cylinder went off around 5pm while balloons were being filled with gas at ‘Salimabad Darbar Sharif Mahfil’ at Gulishakhali.

The explosion left the woman dead on the spot and seven people, including a child, injured.

The injured were taken to Barisal Medical College Hospital.

Officer-in-charge of Amtali Police Station Pulak Chandra Roy said they recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue.
