Dhaka: A youth was killed as a truck hit his bicycle in the city’s Rampura area on Wednesday.

The deceased was identified as Shohagh alias Shimul Hossain, 24, an employee of ‘Doz internet connection’ at Shahjatpur in the city. He had been residing at Korail slum of Banani, reported UNB.

Sources at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) said Shimul was going to Khilgaon from his Shahjatpur office by a bicycle at noon.

When he reached near Rampura bazar at around 1:30 pm, a speedy truck knocked him down, leaving him injured.

Critically injured Shimul was rushed to the DMCH where doctors declared him dead at around 2:30 pm.

Sub-Inspector Abdur Rashid, duty officer of Rampura police station, said police has seized the killer truck and detained its driver Roman, 22, from the spot.
