3 trucks collision kills 2, hurts 4

Pabna: Two drivers were killed in a head-on collision between two trucks while another truck hit both of vehicles from behind at Simanto Bazar on the Bangabandhu Bridge west connecting Highway in Kamarkhanda upazila on Wednesday morning.

Four other people were injured during the accident.

The deceased are Mohammad Hassan, resident of Mohadebpur in Naogaon, and Islam, resident of Panchagarh, both of them were drivers of the trucks collided.

The Bangabandhu Bridge western zone police officer-in-charge Raqibul Islam said a North Bengal-bound truck from Dhaka collided head-on with another truck as it neared Shimultala area at about 6:30am.

Another truck hit both of the trucks from behind, which left three of the truck shattered and two of the drivers of the vehicles dead on the spot. 

Police and fire fighters conducted rescue operation on the spot and took the injured to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital, said the police.

The accident caused long tailback on the highway. Later, the situation became normal at about 8:30am, after the damaged trucks were removed from the road.
